Learn to think,
not just answer.

The whole point of preparing for Hunter is to develop the reasoning skills that will serve your child for life. The test will come and go, and no matter how well they do, what remains is the ability to think clearly, reason carefully, and make good decisions under pressure. To teach those skills, while preparing them for the test, we built a method based on scientific principles, precision-based error analysis, and a deep understanding of how the Hunter entrance exam works.

Why this is different

01 — Method

Reverse-engineered from the source

Every question and explanation was written by reading the Hunter exam closely and working backwards from its reasoning patterns. Questions are constructed according to latent variable theory, ensuring they measure what the Hunter exam actually measures — not a generic approximation of it. This is not guesswork; it's a methodical, scientific approach to test prep.

02 — Analysis

Every wrong answer has a name

There are specific ways to be wrong on Hunter reading and mathematics questions. Our error analysis tags every wrong answer with the reasoning trap it falls into, so your child learns not just that an answer is wrong, but why it's wrong and how to avoid it. After each test, the breakdown shows which trap appeared most often, so review is targeted, not random.

03 — Integrity

No AI chatbot feedback

Many prep platforms use AI to generate explanations on the fly. We don't. Every explanation your child sees after a wrong answer was written and structured by a person: precise, deliberate, and reviewed. There is no language model interpolating between training data and calling it feedback.

04 — Scoring

Honest percentages, not opaque numbers

Hunter does not publish a scaled score formula. Rather than inventing one, we report what actually matters: percentage accuracy per section and a qualitative band — Emerging, Developing, Competitive, or Highly Competitive — that tells you clearly where your child stands and what to work on.

The platform

Precision data, not generic feedback

After every test, you get a full breakdown: percentage scores by section, accuracy by skill, average time per question, focus areas, and an AI-assisted essay evaluation — every metric that actually tells you something.

Our Philosophy

Thinking first. Technology second.

There are a few things you should know about us. First, we are not in the business of selling quick solutions to test prep. There are no shortcuts to learning and thinking. We are razor-sharp focused on the idea that successful learning depends on understanding where students come from, intellectually. That's why we believe that a mistake should never be wasted; it tells you exactly how a student is thinking, and that's something a raw score never will. That conviction is the reason the School of Critical Thinking exists, and it runs through everything we put in front of you.

Our method is built on the STAR method (Standardized Test Analytics and Reporting), a framework we developed in-house, and it works from both ends. Before your child ever sits down, our front-end analytics take the exam apart: statistical and linguistic analysis of every question and reading passage, so we know what each item is really measuring and where it buries its traps. After the test, our back-end analytics go to work on the mistakes, diagnosing them, tracing each error back to the specific reasoning that produced it. Baseline test, benchmark tests, error analysis. You don't walk away with a number; you walk away with a map of how your child thinks.

Hunter does not publish a scaled score formula. We consider this a feature, not a bug. Rather than chasing a number that nobody fully understands, we report what actually matters: how accurately your child answered each section, what reasoning errors appeared, and where time was lost. Percentage scores and qualitative bands — Emerging, Developing, Competitive, Highly Competitive — give you honest guidance without false precision.

We coach the mind, not the mouse. Everything else is decoration.

What you get

Full-length practice tests

Reading Comprehension, Writing, Quantitative Reasoning, and Math Achievement — the same four sections as the actual Hunter entrance exam.

Percentage scoring with bands

Since Hunter doesn't publish a formula, we report what matters: RC%, QR+MA%, and an overall percentage with a band label that tells you where you stand.

Distractor trap labels

Every wrong answer you select is tagged by trap type. Review becomes structural, not random. You learn your specific failure pattern, not just your score.

Essay evaluation

Writing responses are evaluated for on-prompt relevance, vocabulary range, sentence variety, and spelling — the dimensions that matter in the Hunter essay.

Accuracy by skill

Broken down across reading and math skill areas, so you know whether Inference or Multi-step problems are costing the most points.

Score history

Track progress across the Baseline and Benchmark tests. The dashboard shows percentage trends across each section so you can see exactly where improvement is happening.
